Week One in the Accelerator — Featuring Made In Lowell

This is a part of a series of posts written by entrepreneurs of the Winter 2017 Accelerator cohort for EforAll Lowell-Lawrence.

In this initial week of orientation and meeting with mentors, we all had a lot of anticipation for the program. The brilliant and dedicated leaders that were accepted into this program alongside me for the Winter Accelerator are already becoming familiar faces and are part of the unique experience this will be for each of us. In week one we started to focus on our customer segments and value propositions, while my initial meeting with my mentors encouraged me to think ahead and start framing the “why” of Made In Lowell. The biggest question I am facing now is how can I refine my customer segment when the “why” serves an entire City?

Made In Lowell is an economic and community development organization. We believe that all of us, whether we live, learn, work or play here — we are part of creating the Lowell experience. Our hope is that each of us have a positive experience in Lowell and in turn create a positive impact in our beautiful City. Made In Lowell provides platforms for our small business, nonprofit organizations and community members to become actively engaged and deepen relationships among the various sectors and neighborhoods of our City. Through our community events, storytelling and marketing campaigns, Made In Lowell envisions a City that is innovative and connected to increase the livability of Lowell.

As a nonprofit organization, we serve the entire City of Lowell. Our various programs provide different opportunities to encourage active participation of our community and in a sense a direct opportunity in defining what Lowell is and will become. As a person, leading Made In Lowell provides an unique opportunity to learn more about this City and its small businesses and citizens, yet also gives me a chance to engage with people on a different level. My passion is to connect people, celebrate, and showcase possibilities. Our events have brought about collaborations, have encouraged start ups to grow and expand, and seek to revitalize under-utilized areas throughout the City. Our storytelling campaigns have ventured into the impact our neighbors are making and the difference one person can make. Our marketing campaigns brought over 10,000 people to the City of Lowell in 2016 for a variety of events and activities. We are part of creating that Lowell experience, and so are you. We’re all part of Lowell, together. Learn more about Made in Lowell: http://www.madeinlowell.org/
