Welcome to the Medium publication of the Investment Research Group (IRG), a group within the London School of Economics’ Business and Investment Group (LSE BIG).

Our goal is simple: to produce research that is accessible to all parties looking to better their understanding of investments within five key asset classes and styles alongside educating readers and students on what investment research is.

This year, we have chosen Medium as a continuous channel of distribution where you will be able to find articles on a weekly or fortnightly basis throughout the academic year, written by our Research Associates and Analysts.

Further, we aim to publish a hard-copy magazine called Perspectives which will collate the best research articles by each analyst at the end of the year. A soft copy will also be made available online at a later date.

Fostering a good community that aims to discuss defensible theses is a critical component of the LSE IRG and we look forward to readers comments, letters and notes on how investment cases succeed, fail or could be improved.

The 5 asset classes and styles we will cover are:

  1. Equities
  2. Fixed Income
  3. Currencies and Commodities
  4. Macro (Investment Strategy)
  5. Alternatives

Make sure to watch this space for the research that is to follow and do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the editors or writers of the publication to discuss these ideas further.

Cedric Tan is the Head of Alternatives and leads the Medium Publication at the at the London School of Economic’s Investment Research Group, reading Politics and Economics.
