Inflection Point: Responding to COVID-19 An inflection point is defined as “a time of significant change in a situation; a turning point.” Due to COVID-19, startups all over the world are facing tough choices and how they handle this global inflection point will determine their future viability. Through this content series, LTSE will provide new startup founders with tools, resources, and guidance on how to navigate the unprecedented environment.

We’ve teamed with The Plug, a digital news publication that provides in-depth reporting and analysis on the Black innovation economy, to bring you expert insights on giving back during a crisis from Janaye Ingram, social impact leader and activist.

Called an “impressive leader who plays an important role in our progress toward the mountaintop,” by former first lady Michelle Obama, Ingram is the director of 21st Century Communities Initiatives for Airbnb. She is also one of the founders of Women’s March. (She planned the original Women’s March on Washington in 2017 and served as head of logistics.) Previously, Ingram served as national executive director for the civil rights organization National Action Network.

During this webinar, Janaye shares insights on social giving during the pandemic and how each of us can do our part.

Key takeaways from The Plug’s discussion with Janaye Ingram:

  • Foster compassion and a humane approach to the needs of your employees and your community.
  • Support marginalized communities to the best of your ability.
  • Remember that authenticity is key.

Here are a list of organizations that focus on key high-needs areas that Janaye recommends:

National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON)

League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)

National Action Network (NAN)

National Bailout

Feeding American
