Hey Y’all!

Raquel here, signing in from foggy San Francisco. In the land of innovation and technology, it’s hard to ignore the constant buzz around town about new apps hitting the market. It is nearly impossible to grab a coffee, catch a workout, or get a ride to meet friends without hearing one conversation (or more) about signing up for a new app or subscription. With all these hot products to pick from it can be a bit overwhelming finding what programs are best for you. This is particularly true when it comes to finding applications to manage your social media.

I’m excited to share my five favorite apps to easily create, edit, and manage content. So, let’s dive in with this quick video showing you how to take your photos from before to after.

The Breakdown

Being able to create content does not mean you have to break the bank by blowing a bunch of cash on expensive camera gear and editing programs.

Check out the list below to see the three apps l used in the video to edit my yoga photo. Bonus: I also shared two extra apps that help to edit my videos (FilmoraGo), and schedule posts to my blog/social media accounts (Planoly).

  • Snapseed— This app is great to lighten specific spots on a photo and control saturation. I love it because I can control exactly where I choose to add light, contrast, or saturation!
  • Retouch— Being able to remove dirt or blemishes was a game changer. Admittedly, I have a little bit too much fun playing with the magic eraser!
  • VSCO — Get that preset appeal to build out synergy and mood with this app. Ever looked at other handles and think wow, there is so much consistency in their photos? Big time bloggers have their own presets because they are experts in the photography game. A lot of them offer packages to buy their particular themed filter applications, but that usually will set you back a few hundred bucks. VSCO is your solution if you choose to enter the market for free or cheap. They let you try an all-access version for 7 days. Like me, you’ll probably be enticed to purchase the $20 annual membership.
  • FilmoraGo — Edits videos together like an Adobe program, but without having to invest the costs that come with buying an expensive program. My favorite part is they have free music you can add to your videos, or the app allows you to insert your purchased music too! Sorry kids, your number one song that you are blasting on Spotify won’t cut it here, because that’s a subscription service. The only cost for the free version is you are required to add the Filmora logo at the end of your content.
  • Planoly — This Instagram and blog-friendly scheduling program lets you set it and forget it! Usually, the optimal time to post content is midday when most of us are busy with daily life. This makes it challenging to set aside time to publish content in the middle of the day. Take away the hassle with Planoly by scheduling your content to automatically post at the time you pre-select.

Pro-tip: Pick one day a week to create content to post online. It’s starting to sound a little bit like a job, I know, but by setting aside a regular time to upload and manage your content, you will eventually yield a bigger market of students, friends, new relationships and create opportunities. I personally schedule my automatic posts on Monday evenings.

The secret to trending content comes down to publishing at certain times and days in the week. That sweet spot when to post varies for everyone because of the demographic audience shifts between markets, industries, and your general follower population differs respectively to your network. Try posting on alternating days of the week at varying times to see when you get the most traction. Planoly has an analytics feature to help demystify the best time for your audience. If all else fails, go ahead and use the schedule I use to post two or three times a week:

  • Tuesday- Between 10 am — 11:30 am
  • Thursday — Between 10 am — 11:30 am
  • An occasional Saturday morning

Content creation can be made easier if you let apps do the heavy lifting for you. Invest the time to give these five programs a-go and remove the stress of promoting your business.

Happy editing!

United Yogi
