Fourdrinier

Overall Process

  1. Flowspreader spreads out stock evenly across the machine
  2. Headbox discharges stock on the moving forming fabric
  3. The fourdrinier (forming fabric) table drains the stock
  4. Sheet of stock moves through roll presses where water is removed
  5. Water is further removed by steam-heated cylinders in the dryer section
  6. Sheet is calendarered
  7. Sheet is collected on the reel
  8. You gettin’ paper

Fan Pump Loop — The Approach System

Pulp is pumped to the machine chest then gets diluted to become thin stock. The stuff box takes stock from the machine chest, dilutes it to a certain point (basis weight valve)

The fan pump powers the whole system and blends white water with the stock and pumps the stock up to the head box.

Watch out for

Air entrainment from white water following into the collecting trays.

Our Process

At Toledo, the HD5 storage tank will flow to the

  1. #3 Refiner Chest/#3 HD Broke Storage tank
  2. Secondary Refiner Chest -> 1&2 Secondary Refiners -> Secondary Machine Chest -> Secondary Refiner Pump
  3. Saveall
  4. Pre-refiner chest -> Pre-refiner -> Pre-refiner chest -> #1 Refiner
  5. Blend Chest PM1

For our main kraft line, there are many routes the stock can take to get the head box, but in the most general sense, the route is

  1. Basis Weight Valve
  2. Fan Pump
  3. Cleaners
  4. Screens
  5. Head Box
