You Must Remember This

Serial made listening to Podcasts hip, but it didn’t make them cool. Fans of the #podclassics like This American Life and the Slate line-up have known the value of a good podcast for years.

You Must Remember This is my new favorite podcast and general obsession. I can’t stop listening to it! The mission statement: to explore “the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century.” It’s written, produced and edited by Karina Longworth — a writer, film historian and all-around badass.

If you’re about to take the 10 freeway from Santa Monica to DTLA, I suggest starting “The Many Loves of Howard Hughes” (Episodes 7, 9, 11 and 14) or “Star Wars Episode II: Carole Lombard and Clark Gable” (Episode 28). Longworth’s voice is soothing enough to calm your traffic nerves but she is also captivating in a way that few other storytellers are. A+
