The majority of people would most likely assume that gaming companies are comprehensive, in that they develop games, pump them out and perform all the necessary marketing to hype up their new playthings. Things can never be that simple though can they? If you take a deeper look into the industry’s makeup, you will find that it is much more complex and quite divided in nature. Most simply put, the industry is more or less split between game developers and game publishers.

Game developers are the teams behind the actual game creation such as its programming, graphic design and story line. On the other hand, game publishers take care of the operational side of the business, particularly its marketing. There are far more developers than publishers out there, leaving the gaming marketing task in the hands of a select few. That being said, developers rely on publishers to market their games to increase exposure and user base and publishers rely on quality games from developers to boost sales.

With the right formula, this can be an extremely lucrative relationship, but not all relationships can be maintained without some form of conflict. The main root of this conflict are the additional fees associated with any given game, depending on the platform. For example, in order to offer a game for download in either the Google Play or Apple App store, you need to pay a fee. Prior to 2016, Apple charged as much as 30% commission rates in order to provide a download platform.

Recently, some game publishers have tried to break this cycle. U.S. game company Epic Games has rebelled against these high listing fees. Instead of downloading from the Google Play Store, users were able to download their game directly from their site, enabling the publisher to retain full control of its product. However, this case was quite unique, as Epic Games’ mega hit, Fortnite had already accumulated some 125 million fans from around the world. While many developers are unhappy with app stores’ policy of taking a percentage of revenue as commission, smaller game developers, who don’t have an established user pool, are forced to showcase their games through dated methods.

Ludena Protocol, the optimal choice for indie game developers

What alternative do relatively unknown game developers have in user acquisition techniques? Til now, the only option was to face hefty marketing costs or unfair brokerage commissions imposed by large publishers or application platforms. The Ludena protocol provides comprehensive solutions to high marketing costs, publishing fees, platform fees, and the difficulty of finding high-charge users for indie game developers.

The Ludena Protocol gives indie game developers the opportunity to publish hyper casual mobile games directly to a 1:1 gaming platform. When the global, DApp version of the protocol is released, developers will have access to a potential 3 million gamers that already use the app. Brokerage commission rates will also be set at a reasonable level, at around 3–5%. The Ludena protocol provides an opportunity for indie game developers to introduce their games through a space where game users already congregate on a daily basis. This will allow indie game developers to focus on what they do best, creating fun games, which means gamers can have better quality playtime within the Ludena ecosystem.
