Africa Game Developers showcasing at East Africa Gaming Convention

The East Africa Gaming Convention — (EAGC) aims to meet the needs of gaming enthusiasts in the region. This gaming & technology convention aims at meeting with interactive entertainment developers, publishers, distributors, service providers, platform providers, localization providers and game developers, payment providers, multimedia, telecom operators, investors, government officials, and retailers in the region.

In the just concluded 2nd edition — In collaboration with NexGen and the able support of Liquid Telecom — we enabled local Game Developers to be able to showcase their published games to a wider audience and in turn drive more downloads and engagement of their content. The game developers consisted of the below:

  1. Broken Helmet — The Orchard

The Orchard is a first person, role playing, story driven, adventure game set in an open, sandbox world, with looting, crafting and survival mechanics. There is a full day/night and weather system that has in-game time and player progress and settings saving.

2. Kukua Games — Sema Run

Sema’s mission is to help millions of children acquire basic literacy and numerical skills and begin a magical, life-long, learning journey. Our vision is a world where any child can learn through an engaging, rigorous and personalized education through mobile gaming.

3. Games Central

‘Tumtafune” is a Swahili word meaning ‘Chew him/her’. You are a chef being attacked by food which you prepared. Enough is enough and the pizzas will have their way this time. ‘Umetafunwa’ is also Swahili for ‘You’ve just been chewed’ enjoy the game!

4. Weza Interactive — Mzito

Mzito is a 2D adventure Mobile game. Its universe comprises of cultural and semi-fictional characters that utilize the African spirits. These African spirits symbolize the pillars of African culture. It was created to entertain its fan base by illustrating the African aesthetic while at the same time educating the user on African​ ​values,​ ​narratives​ ​and​ ​culture.

5. Scrin Arts — Recce Squad

Recce Squad is the first 2.5D game in Africa and it will be first game series in Africa. This will have monthly releases where the player can explore different terrains and environments with different characters fighting all sorts of enemies such as zombies, terrorists, cattle rustlers, vigilantes, aliens and more with an endless array of weapons.

Zawadi the Game is a 3d open world African game hosting Several MODES ranging from First/ third person Shooter to Racing and a variety of Survival and story based Game Modes.
