Xbox Game Studios Game Camp was founded in 2020 on the belief that extraordinary talent resides everywhere. The goal of the program is to enable people from traditionally marginalized communities and non-traditional backgrounds to realize their potential in the gaming industry and grow thriving games communities and industries in places all over the world.

On July 15th to 16th , 2023, Xbox Game Studios Game Camp Africa took place virtually across the entire African continent and approximately 600 campers participated in-person in 4 locations — Cairo, Johannesburg, Lagos, and Nairobi. Panelists & presenters from Bethesda, Rare, XGS Publishing, GitHub, ID@Xbox and several external African-based companies delivered 14 presentations across 2 days for all in-person and virtual attendees on the continent.
