Chicagoland’s Mistwood Staff Gives Back to Hourly Workers

In the midst of the Coronavirus panic, we take a moment here to share an announcement from Mistwood Golf Club near Joliet, Ill., just outside Chicago. We hope the spirit of such efforts spread across the country.

This week, faced with Governor Pritzker’s closure of all dine-in restaurants in Illinois and out of immediate concern for their family of co-workers, salaried employees of local businesses Mistwood Golf Club and McWethy’s Tavern (Romeoville) moved to voluntarily donate a portion of their earnings to be split evenly between their hourly workers. In addition, McWethy’s Tavern is offering community assistance in buying bread and milk. As a restaurant, they are able to place orders with their vendors and are opening their buying power to the community.

Dan Bradley, General Manager of Mistwood Golf Club shared, “We are a family first and foremost, and we support each other, especially in difficult times. We are all grappling with the constantly changing COVID-19 situation and a small sliver of generosity might be just the kind of inspiration we could all use right now. We’re committed to taking care of our staff, and hopefully setting an example of how one business can make a difference.”

The Mistwood team will also be donating 50 percent of any gift card sales to the fund set up for the hourly staff. Gift cards can be purchased online with FREE delivery here. Purchases can also be made in person at McWethy’s Tavern. Gift Cards may be used at McWethy’s Tavern or Mistwood Golf Club

The sports world might never quite be the same, but it is actions like that of Mistwood’s family of employees that suggest the “new normal” could well be even better than the past.
