Luge Capital, a leading fintech-focused venture capital firm, is seeking a senior investment team member to join our crew. You will be involved in every aspect of the investment process, including sourcing companies, due diligence, deal negotiations, closing transactions and supporting portfolio companies. You will collaborate with other members of the investment team, our Partners, Investment Committee members and LPs on a regular basis.

Your Responsibilities:

• Leverage your network to source high quality companies relevant to our fintech-focused investment theses, with a keen eye for high quality founders.
• Run the diligence process from beginning to end, bringing in external expert opinions along the way.
• Assess and draw insights from detailed financial models for portfolio companies and investment opportunities.
• Prepare terms sheets and negotiate terms.
• Write and review investment memos detailing our thesis for new investments.
• Interface with external legal counsel to negotiate and close investments.
• Work with portfolio companies to assist with strategy, hiring, operations, and fundraising.
• Sit on portfolio company boards as a director or observer, and give well-informed and sound guidance to founders.
• Create your own investment ideas and seek input from the Luge team and industry players.
• Present your thoughts to Partners and LPs on the latest high-value trends and innovations within the fintech space.
• Provide specific input for our quarterly financial reports on the status and outlook of the portfolio companies that you manage.
• Bring unique value to the fund through your own initiatives.

What we are looking for

• Deep understanding of early stage venture capital deal mechanics, ideally with a legal and/or finance background.
• Strong knowledge of fintech, ideally with on-the-ground experience working in the industry. Bonus points if you have product management or operations experience at a growing fintech.
• Experience with venture capital transactions including cap table analysis, analyzing financial statements, market sizing, industry research, and valuations analysis.
• A VC, private equity, or investment banking background would be helpful but is not required.
• A self starter, you are able to manage your own deals from start to finish and create new opportunities to pursue.
• Strong in Excel modelling and Powerpoint.
• Attention to detail and well organized.
• Willing and able to travel in Canada and the United States.
• An active member of the fintech and venture capital community.
