Luge is a fintech-focused venture capital firm. We’re a small crew with huge ambitions to help shape the way the world interacts with money and data. We invest in exceptional teams that improve financial services, affecting real people, businesses and financial institutions.

Your Responsibilities (every day is different):

• Source high quality companies relevant to our ever-evolving investment theses, with a keen eye for superb founders and fintechs.
• Run the diligence process from beginning to end, bringing in external expert opinions along the way.
• Build, assess, and edit detailed financial models for portfolio companies and investment opportunities.
• Write investment memos detailing our fund thesis for new investments.
• Interface with external legal counsel to negotiate and close investments.
• Work with portfolio companies to assist with strategy, hiring, operations, and fundraising.
• Create your own investment ideas and hash them out with input from the industry.
• Present to Partners and LPs on the latest innovations in fintech that are relevant to them.
• Be a thought leader on specific sectors of interest for Luge Capital. Present your findings internally and showcase highlights to the venture community.
• Quarterly reporting on the status and outlook of our portfolio companies.
• Bring unique value to the fund through your own initiatives.

What we are looking for

• Deep understanding of early stage venture capital deal mechanics, ideally with a legal and/or finance background.
• Strong knowledge of fintech is a plus. Bonus points if you have product management or operations experience at a growing fintech.
• Experience with cap table analysis, analyzing financial statements, market sizing, industry research, and valuations analysis. A VC, private equity, or investment banking background would be helpful but is not required.
• A self-starter, you are able to manage your own deals from start to finish and create new opportunities to pursue.
• Very strong in Excel modelling and PowerPoint.
• Attention to detail and well organized.
• Based in Toronto, though our Toronto office is currently fully remote (for now). Willing and able to travel in Canada and the United States.
• An active member of the Toronto fintech and venture capital community.
