Living the dream doesn’t mean getting what I want.
I’m living the dream.
I don’t have everything I want but I am living in a way that makes the things I want possible. Living the dream isn’t getting the things I want. It is spending everyday in pursuit of them.
I suppose it also really matters what I want. Because if what I want isn’t aligned with who I am and the things that matter to me then pursuing them every day won’t be living the dream.
What I want is to use my gifts, the resources I have and the opportunities I am afforded to help people connect with themselves and each other, engage creatively with the world and do things that make it a better place.
I have big dreams about how that might look. Sure, they haven’t all come true (yet!) but everyday I do things that nurture their potential.
When I reach some goal I set for myself then I create more big dreams because that way I have a reason to continue to live each day filled with their potential.
For me living the dream is wanting the right things and living in pursuit of those things every day.
