Universal Profiles are the solution that will upgrade the blockchain user experience. Many of the technical complexities and limitations faced with blockchain technology today will now become a thing of the past.
To truly bring blockchain to the next frontier, we also developed new standards that improve shortcomings in asset transfers (missing smart contract notifications for example), metadata inflexibility, onchain interactions, security and interoperability, which have all been upgraded with LUKSO Standard Proposals (LSP’s).
Since Universal Profiles are built with LUKSO’s new standards, like LSP0 (your actual long lasting account) and LSP6 (your key manager, that helps you control your profile), they are compatible with the new token standards like LSP7 (the improved token standard evolved from ERC20) and LSP8 (the improved token standard evolved from ERC721), which allows for more extensible fungible and non-fungible assets from the very beginning of each user’s journey.
In addition to a new toolkit with standards seamlessly integrated under the hood, all users and builders will be able to finally experience gasless transactions when interacting on the blockchain thanks to the default added Transaction Relay Service (TSR) from my.universalprofile.cloud.

It’s not just a blockchain account, it’s a profile! 👥
With Universal Profiles, your blockchain account is more than just a key! Thanks to ERC725Y, interaction with blockchain technology will become more social as you can easily add a profile picture, a cover picture, tags, links, and even a description to your profile. DApp developers can also directly query assets held by a user without relying on a third party service or having to build an indexer.
To make blockchain technology more accessible to the general public, we must tackle issues like security and the fear of losing a seed phrase. Such concerns often deter individuals from interacting with blockchain.
With Universal Profiles, we introduce recovery options. Users can regain access to their accounts via devices they’ve authorized on their profile or through specific recovery dApps and services.
☝️However, please be aware that this recovery feature won’t be part of the Testnet release, but will be incorporated in the Mainnet version later on.
When adding devices to your Universal Profile, you will be able to create user-friendly names that you can easily understand, whether it is for different devices you own, like “My iPhone”, “Dusty Laptop”, or other controllers for dApps. If you lose access to one of your devices, it will not be the end of the road 🚧. You can still manage your Universal Profile from any of your remaining devices. You will also be able to update permissions of the different devices or apps over time as well, in case you want to remove permissions to certain devices or dApps at a later date.
Please note: if you have already created an ALPHA Universal Profile, we highly recommend you erase your extension data in your settings to continue with the BETA seamlessly.
Gasless transactions 🚫⛽️
We’ve designed the universal profile account standard to be more user-friendly for you.
You can now interact onchain without constantly worrying about gas fees! This means no more mandatory trips to exchanges to secure cryptocurrency for onchain activities.
When using Universal Profiles, holding tokens isn’t a requirement for transactions. After setting up a profile, you can engage onchain. This ease comes from the transaction relay service integrated into each profile. You’ll be provided with a monthly gas allowance, and if you require more, you can add funds to your Universal Profile’s controller address.
For the Universal Profile Browser Extension setup, there’s a verification process to ensure genuine users. Currently, this involves linking your X (Twitter) and Discord accounts. This step helps maintain system integrity by warding off potential bot interference 🤖. In the future, we may offer alternative verification methods. Once verified, the relayer will manage your monthly gas quota. This will make the blockchain interaction on LUKSO experience more straightforward.
Other Features
Calling all dApp developers! 👨💻⛓👩💻 Integrating Universal Profiles into your dApps will enable more dynamic and sophisticated dApp use cases.
Data can be stored directly on the Universal Profile contract. By using the Universal Profile Key Manager 🔑, you can grant scoped permissions to a dApp to update specific data keys that your dApp can store, without touching the other metadata on your profile. For example, a music dApp could store a reference to your playlists right on your profile.
With token hooks your account is directly notified of any assets sent to your account, which allows it to store received token contract addresses to be used by (wallet) dapps and other smart contracts. This then allows you to see all your tokens in the universal profile wallet dapp.
Where can I use my Universal Profile?
After you set up your profile, get some LYXt from the faucet 🚰 and try sending some LYXt to your friends’ profiles! You can then visit various projects that are building on LUKSO, like UP turn, and can mint their own LSP7 assets, or try creating a profile on Universal Page and show off your new NFTs on Testnet!
