Issues

Elevators are essential for Hotels.

They are part of a chain of experiences which define how a guest views their stay at your establishment. You, as the Hotel proprietor, are selling an experience. An experience of luxury, of perfection, and your elevators can either make an experience more positive, or more negative.

Depending on the size of your hotel, you may have one or multiple elevators servicing multiple floors. They need to be working flawlessly 100 percent of time, if they aren’t they are costing in time, money and most importantly it creates a gap in that luxurious experience. Unfortunately, it is a fact of life that faults will occur. While this is an inevitable consequence, how you handle those faults will determine the effect they will have on the smooth running of your hotel. This impact will ultimately impact that perfect experience you are trying to give to your guests.

While guest elevators are a very important customer facing experience, service elevators play an equally important role in the smooth running of your hotel. While they might not be seen by guests, they will definitely notice if they have faults. The effects can be as far ranging as reducing call time to resolve guest issues, or having staff use guest elevators.

Solutions

As you are well aware, faults will occur. It is how you deal with them, that will affect how much it costs you. Currently you either have a manual fault recognition system, which entails staff and/or guests notifying you of a problem or a static response to a computer system. Depending on the setup, if the computer system is not being actively used, the fault could go unnoticed for several hours. For example if there is an overnight fault, or when an elevator is stuck in between floors.

How can an active alarm management system such as Luminous help you?

Luminous Alarm Management Systems are an extremely flexible and versatile system which allows for multiple different Response Scenarios. Once correctly integrated into your own paging and notification systems, Luminous can notify multiple departments, across multiple channels with no delays. These channels can include but are not limited to voice via your PBX, email, sms, smartphone notifications as well as myriad of other channels. This can include internal and external notifications, what this means is that there can be an escalation of notifications depending on the severity of the fault. If a catastrophic fault is detected, the maintenance company can be immediately notified. This ensures the least amount of down time.

The added advantage of being able to share information across multiple departments is that front line staff can be notified along with engineering. This means that information can be proactively given to customers creating the correct expectation. As you are well aware, guests will be know that faults will happen. As long as they are kept informed, they are more likely to be understanding.

The end result is that you are strengthening the links in the chain that provide that luxurious and perfect experience for you guests.

Analytics

We are in the age of information. The more information you have about your guests, your people, and your systems, the more you will be able to predict what will happen in the future. Luminous Alarm Management Systems record all fault data, both large and small. Knowing exactly how many faults, what those faults were, and how long they lasted will give you a stunning overview. This overview can determine how well both your elevators as well as your maintenance company are performing. This information will allow you to possibly determine when preventative maintenance is needed, this will ultimately reduce the amount of down time with minimal expenditure.
