We’re back with an exciting hackathon!
We’re super excited to partner with IoTEX to decentralize IoT-generated data. The true vision of this hackathon is to decentralize IoT-generated data in a very secure way that regains user’s trust and gives them what they deserve, the power to control their own data and the value it generates.
The registration process of this hackathon starts on 30 August, 2021, and the last date to register is October 3, 2021.
Reclaiming the integrity of user data management
Today data fuels the world.
In 2020, Internet users generated about 2.5 quintillion bytes of data each day. With the advancements in IoT tech becoming more and more accessible, it is beginning to contribute to a sizable portion of this statistic.
From your Alexa to your fitness tracker, all these devices track and store our data on centralized systems and subsequently, these players earn an outsized portion by monetising this data. This also highlights the fact that centralized systems control an outsized portion of our personal data while running these devices.
At the Iotex India Hackathon 2021, we’re working on enabling the movers and shakers innovating in this arena to find solutions to these real world problems with expertise, incentives and inspiration.
Tracks of Hackathon
- Use data as a trigger: If-This-Then-That (IFTTT)
- Use data to kick off a workflow — an AR experience, or mint an NFT, or ANYTHING
- Calculate & settle payments — Service level agreements (SLAs) + insurance
- Notification system — Use data to trigger a message one or more parties
- Geo-caching — users unlock a unique challenge based on their location
2. Data as a service:
- Prediction markets
- Verifiable Random Numbers (VRN)
- 2P Data Marketplace (S3 authorization framework)
3. Pool Data from Pebble Trackers
- Games: step counters, fastest delivery, carbon footprint impact
- Distributed consensus of real world facts like “data LPs” with fractional ownership
- Temperature index of a region
- Air quality map of your university
- Proof of Interaction — how close to a point of interest or other Pebble Tracker, verifying location
Prizes of the Hackathon
As a part of this hackathon, you stand a chance to win upto USD 16,000 in prizes.
The prizes are distributed according to the tracks of the hackathon.
- For the track Data as a Trigger, the winner stands a chance to win USD 2000, while the second and third receive USD 600 and USD 400 respectively.
- For the track Data as a Service, the winner stands a chance to win USD 3000, while the second and third receive USD 1000 and USD 500 respectively.
- For the track Pools of Data, the winner stands a chance to win USD 5000, while the second and third receive USD 1500 and USD 1000 respectively.
But wait! There’s more. The IoTeX team will select their favourite 10 projects based on creativity and will be rewarded with USD 100 each.
