Change

Too much of it…

Hola amigos! A lot has happened since my previous post and I feel that an update is necessary.

I had an amazing 4 days with great friends.

Dan, Georgie, Pia and I

A week ago I got a roommate named Pia and another housemate (her boyfriend) Max. I had been working with Max at Los Pimpollos beforehand. So in the tiny house was Daniel, Marvin, Pia, Max and I. We were a group straight out of a sitcom and it was amazing, Yes, I am speaking in past tense on purpose. After these amazing four days of going to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Black Sheep, and eating enough food for 10 people, clubbing on Wednesday night, and watching our favorite show Take Me Out, it all came to an abrupt end. We woke up after an interestingly fun Friday night and Dan told us that he was leaving for Buenos Aires. Just like that he packed up and left Projects Abroad and our cute little familia. We will all be together soon though, because this Friday we’re going to Buenos Aires as well. This was just the beginning of the changes though…

I moved.

Yep that’s right, I moved. In short, I was having series of problems with my host mother and leaving that house was better for everyone. Overall my situation is better now and I just need to adapt to another new place. Unfortunately I now live a half hour drive from the city center as opposed to a half hour walk. Additionally, I now spend over 2 hours commuting to work, but I will live. I really liked living with Pia too.

My new home is much bigger and I already like it more. My host mother Mariana is young, energetic and extremely nice. I live with 2 other volunteers Marie and Martine and they are great as well. I’m extremely excited because they have an asador in the backyard. It’s a large grill-type platform that is used to make the famous argentina asado! I think I’ll feel much more comfortable and happy here once I get used to everything.

I am no longer an English teacher.

I know, so much change! Instead of continuing teaching English in a regular high school like planned, I am now going to be part of a care project. It takes place at the same summer school where I have been teaching, but instead little kids ages 1-6 will be coming in the mornings for activities and games. That’s where I come in. Erica (my current co-worker) and I will start the kindergarten-esk placement on March 10th. In the meantime, this week we finish at the summer school and Friday night I am off to Buenos Aires for the entire week!

It has also been 55 degrees Fahrenheit and rainy all day. Yeah, too much change for me.

Saludos!
