Today we made fruit salad at Los Pimpollos and they loved it.
Before work, Helene and Erica stopped at the market and picked up some fruit. Fresh bananas, oranges, apples, pears and grapes made up the salad and the kids were eager to get chopping.

Even the youngest kids came and helped out as we prepared the afternoon snack. There weren’t many kids there today, but those who were had a blast.
After dicing up all the fruit we mixed it together and everyone had a cup full. It was quite good. Afterwards we gave a lesson about fruit names in English. I was surprised that so many of the kids knew the names of the common fruits. The class consisted of about 5 students but it went very nicely (which is a success in my book).

This adorable girl is named Kati and she is one of the most energetic and enthusiastic girls at Los Pimpollos. She calls me her “mami” and “profe” for teacher. She almost always comes to class and even though she can be shy when speaking English, she’s learning a lot. Although she forgets her shoes at home and gets a little crazy at times, she has the biggest heart and makes my job worth doing. I love knowing that everyday when I come to the care center it makes her happy and gives her the opportunity to learn more.
I believe that I really do make a difference in her life and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
