Founded in 1997, the Saint Charles County Symphony Orchestra started off small. They are a non-profit organization that works with different artists to present traditional and non-traditional music.

The Halloween concert is a special evening, especially for the children who get to participation within the production.

Director and conductor David Peek said, “We hope that we are giving them a real exposure to music and quality education. That comes with the arts and the exposition or the exposure to culture. that’s what the orchestra’s ultimate goal is — sharing what we know about the best parts of art with people as a daily life experience.”

The conductors work throughout the night to create a memorable ensemble that enhances all spirits of Halloween. Listeners can hear the traditional tunes and enjoy the creative atmosphere as the musicians all put in extra work to really sell the holiday but not to scare off the crowd.

“I think we try and bring a variety of music but also some very creepy stuff if we can and get the audience involved,” said participant Mike Ward.

The musicians participate in many ways, especially by dressing up. Some might even say it’s a St. Charles tradition by now.

Second violinist Sherilyn Haugh said, “I don’t think it is really spooky. It’s just good traditional music that a lot of people are familiar with and it is really fun.

There are plenty more opportunities for you and your family with all ears of all ages to get out and enjoy the wonderful music played by the St. Charles Symphony Orchestra.

The orchestra performs at various locations including St. Peters, Wentzville, and Saint Louis. Their next performance will take place December 19th, 2015, at the St. Peters Cultural Art Center at 2pm. Admission costs ten dollars.
