Morning of the Jane Doe exhumation at the Oak Grove Cemetery

The body of a little girl was exhumed September 24th. The police are still trying to solve the 47-year-old murder case. The little girl was believed to be two and a half and was found by two fisherman in West Alton. Her identity remains unknown.

Detective Stephanie Fisk took the lead thirteen years ago when she joined the St. Charles County detective bureau. Fisk voiced, “The first thing I did was go to my Sargent and say is that still an active case, is it still an open investigation? And he told me that it was and I said can I have it?”

Fisk was given permission to begin investigating the case again. By opening the grave they hope to retrieve DNA which detectives hope will reveal who the little girl was and hope the information could also lead to her killer.

“They didn’t have anything forensic back in 1968 that we do now. We’ll also be able to do a better recreation of what she looked like by taking a 3D image of her skull”, proclaimed Fisk.

Police ask to contact them with any details on the case. Public Affairs officer for the St. Charles police department, Val Joyner, says they still need help.

Joyner exclaims, “Let us know that you have information about the case, you know somewhere, someone knows who this child is.”

While her identity remains unknown, a composite recreation has been created by the national center for missing and exploited children.
