The nationally ranked Lindenwood Men’s water polo team hosted the Missouri Valley Conference Crossover this past weekend. The tournament, held at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters, welcomed water polo teams from St. Louis University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Missouri, Truman State University, and Missouri University S&T. The Lindenwood team was also split into two separate teams, an ‘A’ team and a ‘B’ team, for this tournament.

On Saturday, the Lindenwood ‘A’ team went head to head against the Lindenwood ‘B’ team. Although the teams played separately in the tournament, head coach Dave Miller decided to combine the two teams in this match and split them as if it were a scrimmage.

The Lindenwood ‘A’ team went undefeated, winning all three games over the two day tournament. The Lindenwood ‘B’ team dropped a game against their biggest rival, Washington University, in overtime. Lindenwood ‘B’ team goalie, Sam Beckwith, knew that the game against Washington would be a tough one.

“The Wash U program is a very good program,” Beckwith said. “They’ve been together a while. They’re a good, strong group.”

The water polo team is now 11 and 1 on the season and will head to the Missouri Valley Division Championship on October 24th and 25th. The Division Championship will be hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.
