Lindenwood’s swing dance club started six years ago with a group of people dancing in a Lindenwood dorm. As the group started growing, they moved club meetings to Evans Commons in the multipurpose room. Now that the group has grown, a dance studio located at Lindenwood’s Schiedegger building was offered to them for their club. The swing dance club offers students the opportunity to learn how to dance by taking a 30 to 45 minute lesson.

The purpose of the group is not only to learn a new skill but to have fun and meet new people. The swing dance club welcomes inexperienced dancers who want to learn how to dance professionally. With the swing community growing in St. Louis, Lindenwood’s swing dance club is goal is to expand and show students that dancing is a unique art. President Sarah Langston wants the club to continue to expand.

“We would love to do some group activities through the school like community dances or flash mops and things. Those are always fun to put together. Just getting the whole community involved. Just being a part of the community in St. Louis, said Sarah Langston.”

The swing dance club meets every Thursday night from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm. for more information on joining the club, contact them at (314) 540–9893.
