Over the past twenty years Lindenwood University has not only grown their student body but the physical aspects of campus and various areas of the community surrounding campus as well. The partnership between Lindenwood University and the city of St. Charles is long standing, creating an exciting time to be apart of development in the area. The most recent development, University Commons is great for Lindenwood students and has benefits for the city.

David Leezer the director of economic development for the city of St. Charles tells LUTV, “a new and vital and vibrant development, university commons right across from Lindenwood University and that’s very important to us because again not only does that bring in new dollars to the city but it also is a new show case to the entry point to the city of St. Chalres.”

Lindenwood University has brought a buzz and excitement to the region bringing new developments in that will benefit Lindenwood students. The most recent to break ground is the Cedar Hearst Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility next to University Commons across from the St. Charles.”

“We are very excited about that,” said Julie Mueller, Vice President of Operations and Finance at Lindenwood University. “We are not building the project, they are and it will be owned by them but they lease our ground and we plan on establishing internships with our students that can work in their facility.”

The success of the university impacts the success of St. Charles with the opportunity of new jobs in the area. Lindenwood University has a greater effect in the St. Charles community than most would imagine. It is one of the number one employers in the St. Charles area and it keeps the cobblestone streets of Main Street up and running.

There is more to come with the University over the upcoming years, the school has recently embarked on a new master planning process that has Vice President of Operations and Finance Julie Mueller extremely excited with what improvements will come next.
