University of Missouri Professor Melissa Click was caught in an argument with a reporter denying access to protesters. The video recently went viral. Click wanted muscle and it is safe to say the media is handing it to her.

I had the chance to sit down with Lindenwood communications law professor Richard Reighard about Click’s behavior during the protests. Reighard expressed his thoughts about reporters and their first amendment rights.

“People should understand that if you have a first amendment right of free speech, then so does everybody else,” said Reighard. “And just because you don’t like it or you perceive it to be against you or you perceive the media to somehow be doing you a disservice by being there, then that’s not what the First Amendment is about.”

Reighard did express to me that Click shouldn't resign from the University of Missouri, but instead she should do more to educate the students about first amendment rights.
