It’s flu season, everyone’s favorite time of the year, if everyone loved getting shots or getting sick. No one is ever a fan of what it takes to prevent the flu, but the preparations taken to create the yearly flu shot are so extensive it should not be taken lightly. Looking through the viruses in the southern hemisphere, where the yearly seasons are flipped, allows doctors to see what sort of mutations will be found in the northern hemisphere, allowing them to create a proper vaccine, and vice versa. Doug Bolnick, St. Charles Public Information Officer, stresses that with all the effort put into keeping the vaccine up to date, it’s imperative to get the shot as soon as possible.
