The West Lake Landfill in Bridgeton is causing concerns for local residents due to the radioactive chemicals contained in one section nearby an underground fire in another section. While multiple action groups have tried to raise awareness for the landfill, not much ground had been covered until multiple school districts in the surrounding areas, such as St. Charles and Pattonville, sent out precautionary letters to families of possible situations that could arise from the landfill. Just Moms STL has been holding bi-weekly meetings for nearly four years now and speaking with them at their latest meeting. The members are very happy to have such an increased turnout for their meetings but obviously hope more can be done. Many government officials say there shouldn’t be much to worry about, but the facts are still worrying to some.
