This Sunday, after three marvellous seasons on HBO, The Leftovers will air its final episode. It’s been a wonderful run for one of the smartest, strangest shows on TV, so let’s take a look at the 27 episodes so far and reveal our favourites.
28. AXIS MUNDI (S2E1)
Essentially an hour-long spin on the ‘cold open’, the admirably risky but overwhelmingly dull Season 2 premiere opens with a ludicrous cavewoman parable, and doesn’t introduce Kevin and Nora until the final 10 minutes.
27. CAIRO (S1E8)
Kevin finds himself in the woods with Patti and Dean, and the former taunts him whilst tied to a chair. It’s the first meaty episode for Ann Dowd, but it’s not her best work, and the episode isn’t much fun at all.
