1) Installation

The first step is to connect a PSU (Power Supply Unit) to your AvalonMiner 1246. You can use special PSUs that are either made specifically for Bitcoin mining or even those made for servers. Plug in all the power cables from your power supply to the power headers found at the top side of the miner. One cable for the controller and the rest for the hash boards. The light indicator will flash in red several times after power-on. After the device startup, the indicator lamp will blink in white for about three secs.

Next, get on a computer or mobile device that is connected to the same network as the miner. You will need to enter the miner’s IP address. Since most miners now come with DHCP enabled you do not have to manually set the IP address, you just need to look at the IP table on your router or use a scanning tool. On the controller board, click the IP Report button (above). Hold it down until it beeps (about 5 seconds) and then you should be able to locate it.

A scanning tool like AngryIP or Locator from Minerstats allows you to scan every device on your network and see its IP address.

After getting your miner’s IP address, you are ready for Configuration.

2) Network Setting

First, you need to open a web browser and enter the miner’s IP address. A dialog box will pop up which requires you to enter the login credentials; both default username and password are “root”. After logging in, you will see an overview panel like this:

Click the Network in the configuration menu and set it to DHCP (dynamic acquisition). Note: After clicking the save button, please restart the miner to make sure your network settings are effective. To restart it, you can click Reboot on the left, or press the RESET button (on the miner), or power off and then power on.

3) Mining Pool Setup

To add or change the pool configuration, type in the pool setting as follows:

URL: stratum+tcp://btc.global.luxor.tech:700

Worker: [LuxorUsername].workername Workername can be anything, but avoid using symbols or special characters as it may be an invalid username.

Password: 123

After entering the pool information, press Save. Wait for the pool to get connected, and then click on the Overview page. If you find a hashrate curve in the chart, the pool configuration is successful.

4) Monitor Revenue and Machine Performance

Once you’ve started hashing, grab yourself a beer! It’ll take about 5 minutes for your worker to appear on our stats page. To find your user, simply head to the Workers tab. You should see something like this:

Enjoy your new AvalonMiner 1246 bitcoin miner!
