Where to Take Your Kids in Marbella

Marbella didn’t reach the status of a world class holiday mecca by catering only to a small niche of holiday makers. It got there by offering that elusive “something for everyone”, whether you’re a beach nut, a party animal, foodie or just a connoisseur of exquisite, luxury accommodation.

So it makes sense that while being super friendly toward visitors of all age groups, genders, nationalities and other things that we (seemingly) differ in, it’s also a great, great place for families with children.

Indeed, if you have kids, with a little planning – and this blog post – you will have all the conditions for an amazing family holiday and your kids will have a great time. Perhaps the biggest challenge will be what to do first!

From beaches to amusement parks to superb cinemas – Marbella will have your little ones entranced with fun!

1. Playa de Calahonda

Where: midway between Mijas and Marbella (map)

Playa de Calahonda is your quintessential family beach in Marbella. It boasts great sand, plenty of silence and opportunity for relaxation. The kids will appreciate the long stretch of sandy shore where they can play in the waves in your view. The facilities are simple but clean and there is a dedicated lifeguard so you can let your guard down a bit.

2. Aqualand Torremolinos

Where: a short drive from Marbella, 10 minutes from the centre of Torremolinos (map)

Kids will be so thankful you took them here, whether they’re preschoolers or teenagers. Aqualand Torremolinos offers attractions for each member of your family. The little ones will love the kids’ water park and amusement park, all in one swimming pool. The ones a little bit older will enjoy attractions such as the black hole, the rapids, or the Kamikaze (just for the experienced water park guests).

3. Tivoli World

Where: Benalmádena, Marbella (map)

Another park, but of a different kind. Unlike Aqualand, you won’t need to bring your swimsuit here but you will do well with some thirst for adventure and thrills. Tivoli World offers both with attraction after attraction your kids will love, from mini-roller-coasters, dodgems, go-karts, to play areas, to video game arcade. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, it offers plenty of eye candy as well. In short, the whole family will have a great time.

4. Kidz Kingdom

Where: Bel Air, Marbella (map)

Kidz Kingdom is a state-of-the-art children play area for little ones ages 1 to 9. It offers a safe, monitored environment for your kids to really unleash their creative and playful side. The personnel will be happy to keep an eye on your children while you do some shopping in the vicinity or you just simply want to offer something good for them. Interactive games, team games, trampolines, ball pool, castles, slides, and the perfect hide and seek facility – these are just some of the treats that are offered there.

5. Funny Beach

Where: east side of Marbella (map)

Another beach that is perfectly suited for family outing, but of a very different character. While Calahonda is all peace and calm, Funny Beach is just that – a treasure trove of quirky fun. Trampolines, video games, miniature golf, go-karts, pinball machines, playground for small children with blocks and toys – each attraction is more amusing than the other. Your kids will be overwhelmed with possibilities and begging for more.

6. Cines Gran Marbella 3D

Where: Puerto Banus (map)

For those too rainy or too hot days, nothing beats seeking refuge inside the grand halls of Cines Gran Marbella 3D. Whether you’re catching up with the latest summer blockbuster or an animated feature, this cinema will provide what you’re looking for. Best of all, this multiplex shows movies in original language (with Spanish subtitles) so no need to start brushing up on your Castellano.

7. The Hustler

Where: Puerto Banus

Perhaps suited for those young ones of ages 15 and older, this is a true attraction for the lovers of speed and adrenaline. The Hustler is a powerboat that will redefines what fast means. With speed up to 80mph, this 15 min ride is not for the faint of heart, that much is sure. It will be a once in a lifetime experience for you and your teenager.

8. Sea Life Centre

Where: Benalmadena (map)

Known as the biggest aquarium in the whole of Costa del Sol, Sea Life Centre in Benalmadena delights with its sheer size as well as richness in sea life it showcases to its visitors. Kids are thrilled by an exciting sigh after exciting sight: sea turtles, octopuses, sharks – there’s around 2,000 sea creatures they can see up close and learn about here. Truly a must visit place if you have kids.

9. Team Xtreme

Where: Marbella (map)

Another activity that is best for a a bit older children, Team Xtreme is still a great way to make your kids happy and offer them one of a kind experience. Team Xtreme is the place to go for adventure in Marbella, regardless if you want to do some kayaking, trekking, mountain biking or even kite surfing, quad biking or paragliding. It promotes adventurous spirit and love of nature in young ones and that in itself is great.
