What meeting did you attend (name of the body, whether it was a regular or special meeting, etc)?

Mission Police District, Regularly Scheduled Community Meeting

Did you attend the whole meeting?

Yes.

Tell us about public input: Did it happen? How was it conducted? Did it seem adequate?

Yes. It happened throughout the meeting and many people including local citizens spoke. There were many opportunities to make public comments and also interact with the officers and government officials who were present.

Tell us about the government: Who was there? Were they attentive? Were they prepared? Were they courteous with each other and the public?

Captain Gaetano Caltagirone, a sergeant, and a lieutenant from the Mission precinct. They were attentive, prepared, and courteous. They listened attentively to the public comments, addressed them, and offered to stay in touch. Capt. Caltagirone also shared his email address with the entire room. He was good about asking clarifying questions of guest speakers to help the audience understand as well.

Also, Vivian Mendoza from Department of Emergency Management (DEM), who was also attentive, prepared, and courteous. She addressed questions and answered them thoroughly.

Lastly, Dr. Claude Hemphill, Chief of Neurology at SF General Hospital was prepared, courteous, and answered any questions that the community had.

Want to tell us anything else (about the process used, the content of the meeting, decisions made, adherence to laws and regulations, etc)?

The captain, sergeant, and lieutenants all addressed gang violence in the district. Vivian Mendoza discussed emergency preparedness and how to get alerts on issues around the city and how to make the correct calls to 911, 311, or a non emergency police line. Dr. Hemphill discussed a research study called BOOST, Brain Oxygen Optimization in Severe Traumatic and getting community opinion on how patients are enrolled in that study.
