The Funky Monkeys, Lynbrook High School’s robotics team, were Regional Finalists at the 2018 Silicon Valley FIRST Robotics Regional! We also won Motorola’s Quality Award which cited our widespread use of perfectly neutral counterbalancing, and our consistent autonomous control routines that used the pure pursuit algorithm.

The Funky Monkeys were the second pick on a field of 60 teams and joined the #2 alliance of Spartan Robotics (971) of Mountain View and CardinalBotics (4159) of San Francisco. This is the first time in our team’s 17 year history that we have reached the final round of the Silicon Valley Regional that is dominated by high power teams.

As Regional Finalists, and for our earlier win at the FIRST Hub City Regional in Texas, we’ve earned an opportunity to compete at the FIRST Robotics Championship in Houston. Any additional funding, especially towards the $5,000 registration fee, as we prepare for our journey to the Championship, would be welcome!

Thank you for your continued support, that has helped make this year the Funky Monkey’s most successful so far!
