Last weekend, the Funky Monkeys, Lynbrook High School’s robotics team, were the Regional Winners at the 2018 Hub City FIRST Robotics Regional in Lubbock Texas! On top of that, we received the Excellence in Engineering Award for our modular student-designed robot, and for our work in bringing the Scala programming language to FIRST.

The team started off strong in the qualification matches, winning nine out of the eleven matches and climbing to rank 4 on a field of 42 teams. During the alliance selections, we were the first pick on the field, and joined our alliance captain, Up-A-Creek Robotics, of Longmont, Colorado and the BearTecs, of Bastrop, Texas. Together, we defeated every other alliance to become the regional winners!

As the winners, we are now invited to compete at the FIRST Championship in Houston. But first, we are looking forward to competing at the Silicon Valley Regional! Thank you for all your support!
