The Lynx Cryptocurrency Installer (LynxCI) for Debian and Ubuntu Linux allows anyone with a Raspberry Pi or cloud VPS (Digital Ocean, Linode, Scaleway, etc) to run a Lynx node that mines Lynx coins. It’s super quick and requires almost no configuration.

Because you are reading this article, let’s assume you have already set up your LynxCI on your Raspberry Pi or cloud VPS. If you have not yet, visit this link for a full explainer.

Why bother signing up for the Tipsy Miner?

It doubles your mining rewards and enters you in a lottery to win more Lynx each time you win a block. You can also set up as many miners as you like. Oh, it’s also free to join and use.

Let’s get started!

Step 1) If you aren’t on Discord yet, you need to be. It’s free and easy. Visit https://discord.com/ and set up your account. We recommend installing the desktop app, but you do you.

Step 2) If you aren’t already a member of the Lynx Discord, you need to join. Visit https://discord.getlynx.io/ and join the Lynx Discord. It’s a big fun group that are happy to answer questions.

Step 3) In any Lynx Discord channel, type the command ‘!begin’ to register yourself with the Tipsy Bot. This sets up a Lynx wallet and allows you to send and receive tips, with real Lynx coins!

Step 4) In any Lynx Discord channel, type the command ‘!lynx miner id’. This command will give you your Tipsy Lynx Miner Id. This value belongs to you. Use it as often as you like, on as many LynxCI nodes/Pi’s as you like. (No one can steal from you if they see your Tipsy Lynx Miner Id, so keep it on file, but it’s not a Top Secret kind of thing.)

When you get your Tipsy Lynx Miner Id, you can type the command ‘tipsy [myLynxMinerIdHere]’ on your LynxCI command line and your registration is complete.

Power Tip: You can always verify your LynxCI node has your Tipsy Lynx Miner Id configured by typing the command ‘lyc’ on the command line when logged into your LynxCI. You will see the ‘tipsy’ parameter with your Id near the bottom of the file.

How does it work?

Each time your miner finds a block, your Miner Id is etched into the public Lynx blockchain. Tipsy sees this, alerts you on Discord with a direct message, and sends 2 Lynx to your Tipsy wallet, that is double the block reward you would receive normally. For safety, rewards are delayed by 5 blocks.

But, how does the lottery work?

With each block your LynxCI finds, if the last ordered digits of your Tipsy Miner Id match the block hash, Tipsy will be instructed to send a bonus amount of Lynx to your Tipsy wallet. The size of the bonus depends on the number of matching digits. You will also receive a Discord direct message notice for this.

Match 1 = a 1/16 chance to win 16 extra Lynx
Match 2 = a 1/256 chance to win 256 extra Lynx
Match 3 = a 1/4,096 chance to win 4,096 extra Lynx
Match 4 = a 1/65,536 chance to win 65,536 extra Lynx
Match 5 = a 1/1,048,576 chance to win 1,048,576 extra Lynx

  • Rules are subject to change at anytime.

We hope you like using the Tipsy bot. Please feel free to give us feedback in the Lynx Discord.
