We all love music and we all love writing, so why not mix the two up? Every week, Lyrical Inspiration will provide one line of lyrics from a random song to be used as a writing prompt for your stories!

You can write whatever you like; fiction, poetry, prose, personal ramblings — whatever! There is no word limit and anyone is welcome to join.

To join, please leave a comment below and I will add you to the publication. Submit your story as a draft by Saturday of every week to be included.

Your story doesn’t have to necessarily contain the lyrics word for word, but it does need to be recognizably inspired by it. Stories have to be submitted as a draft for review, and will be approved every Saturday evening!

If you have any questions, concerns, or recommendations, please feel free to contact me!

The Gist of It

  • Your works must be inspired by the lyrics of the current week’s prompt.
  • Your work can be of any form; poetry, fiction, nonfiction, etc.
  • Submit your work as a draft by Saturday to be included.
  • Please tag your work as you want it to be viewed in Lyrical Inspiration. Current tag tabs are: Fiction, Nonfiction and Poetry.
(If you have a suggestion for other tag tabs, let me know.)
The reason for this is I do not want to miscategorize someone’s work.

This Week’s Lyrics…

Suddenly I was only a leaf
