Unbroken Promises
Poem — Unbroken Promises …
Verse
When days have flown by swiftly
And tomorrow stays unchanged —
When dawn’s gentle light
Is a mere shadow of a lonely night
And no one’s around to question why …
Will my name be one remembered?
When silence whispers in your ear
And you’ve lost your fear of pain -
When truth unveils its elusive game
And illusions are not what they seemed
When there’s nowhere left to flee …
Will you then remember my name?
When memories fade and not remembered
And bouquets too have turned to ash —
When so many words were left unsaid
They can never now be understood
Will they be questions for you to bare …
Will my name then linger in your heart ?
When letters fade and ears become silent
Unbroken promises, your burden to bear —
Forgiveness lost that can never return
No one left to blamed or to be accused
Lost too the years to uncover the truth …
Who then will remember my name?
