New partnership alert: Lyte and Emerald City Comic Con team up for a great 2019 fan event
Emerald City Comic Con was around long before geek was the new cool.
Founded in 2003, the Seattle comic, gaming, sci-fi and fantasy convention has grown from a few thousand die-hard fans to nearly 100,000 attendees in 2018. ECCC usually sells out a month or so ahead — and organizers expect the same for 2019.
That’s where we come in.
For the first time, Lyte has teamed up with Emerald City Comic Con to power a fan-to-fan exchange between wannabe attendees looking for tickets and those who already have tickets but can no longer make it for one reason or another.
By teaming up with Lyte, ECCC organizers hope next year’s event will “increase flexibility for fans and make it safer and easier for fans to purchase sold-out ticket types,” they wrote on the event’s Facebook page.
They elaborated on the ECCC website:
“We know scalping is one of your biggest frustrations when it comes to ECCC ticket sales. We know having to go to the secondary market can be expensive and even scary. We’ve put as many systems as we can in place to stop it, but we think working with Lyte will be a big step forward in combating scalpers while at the same time increasing flexibility for our fans.”
Lyte has been working to end scalping since the company opened its doors in 2013. We combine the great things technology has to offer and the awesome changes that key partnerships can make. It’s working. We delivered more than $1.5 million in fan savings in 2017 alone.
Lyte is partnering with talented artists like Mumford & Sons, reputable ticketers like Ticketfly, established venues like Alabama’s Iron City, cool events like Seattle’s own ZooTunes and many, many more to make sure valid tickets safely get into the hands of fans who share our love of live events.
By working with our partners, Lyte is saving fans money, reducing no-show rates and boosting venue revenue on stuff like food, drinks and merchandise.
Emerald City Comic Con is one of Lyte’s newest partners. It’s the first of a handful of huge fan conventions that will make cities throughout the U.S. a little more interesting in 2019. ECCC is scheduled to run over four days between March 14th and 17th. The convention will be held at the Washington State Convention Center, located along Pike Street in downtown Seattle.
Fun fact: ECCC is named after the city itself. Seattle is famously nicknamed the “Emerald City” because of its 6,000 acres of parks and for Washington’s abundant green forests.
ECCC 2019 is set to include discussion panels and screenings of films, videos and other pop culture pieces. It also will host some awesome guests, including comic artists and creators like Afua Richardson (Black Panther World of Wanda); Alex Maleev (Daredevil); Chip Zdarsky (The Spectacular Spider-Man); Cryssy Cheung (Star Wars Women of the Galaxy); Jim Zub (Avengers, Dungeons & Dragons); Jen Vaughn (Teenage Wasteland) and more.
Marissa Meyer (The Lunar Chronicles) will be among ECCC’s literary guests. They are the writers who create comic storylines and graphic novels. Organizers are finalizing the rest of the list, so visit the ECCC website and social media pages for updates.
And no nerd convention would be complete without its share of entertainment guests. These are the folks that fans love; the ones who bring our favorite comic, sci-fi and fantasy characters to life on screen. George Takei (Star Trek), Jason Issacs (Star Trek Discovery, Harry Potter), James Arnold Taylor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Katherine Barrell (Wynonna Earp), Marisha Ray (Critical Role), Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead, Avengers Infinity), Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek Discovery, The Walking Dead) and Rainn Wilson (Star Trek Discovery, Galaxy Quest, The Office) are among the 2019 lineup.
Emerald City Comic Con is produced and run by ReedPOP, which also puts on New York Comic Con, C2E2, Keystone Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, BookCon and the PAX shows.
You should go to Emerald City Comic Con. Buy tickets here.
If the event sells out (it will) and you want to go, visit Lyte to request a ticket. Once they become available, you’ll get a fair offer. There are zero hidden fees. You’ll receive newly-issued tickets after your payment is complete. If tickets aren’t available, your credit card won’t be charged.
At the same time, if you have purchased tickets but your plans change, you can return them on the Lyte platform and someone will buy them from you. You’ll get paid within 24 hours of event.
Our exchange is safe, easy and puts valid tickets in the hands of fans.

“We’re hoping this partnership will be a step in the right direction,” ECCC organizers wrote, “to diminish scalpers and get more fans into the show.”
We can’t wait. See you in March 2019.
