Lytmus New Features — Spring 2017
We’ve been hard at work these last few months creating some very useful new features.
We’re excited to share, so let’s get started.
What’s Included
Lytmus Content Library
An inherent benefit of Lytmus is having access to quality content. As a result, our content library is always growing to cover an ever wider spectrum of capabilities.
The tasks, questions, and scenarios in our content library are so realistic they’re interchangeable to what candidates would find in the role.
The best part is you can start using it all right away!
Sample Content Themes for Roles
Front-End Engineer
- Interact with a back-end service via REST API to display
and manipulate data. - Build a stateless JS application from scratch.
- Create responsive views for many devices.
Full-Stack Engineer
- Query an existing RESTful API to create, retrieve, and analyze data.
- Use a back-end stack, such as Django with MySQL, and put in place controllers and DB queries.
- Install and configure a web server.
Back-End Engineer
- Perform operations on file system tree, e.g., search files, reorganize
folders, remove duplicates. - Write a function that processes a data structure, e.g., find paths
in a graph. - Given a dataset, such as a JSON-encoded log file, parse and analyze
the data.
Devops
- Automate the setup of a Nginx-based web server.
- Show idempotence in automation scripts.
- Intelligent handling of failures or redundant configuration tasks.
We currently have over 300 hours of content in our library!
All of our material varies in difficulty and duration across a wide range of programming languages, frameworks, and databases.
What’s more is we take the time to validate all questions so you can focus on finding great talent instead.

Candidate Options
You can now empower your candidates by letting them choose from a set of programming languages and frameworks to complete their Tryouts.
By giving candidates a choice, they can put their best work forward.
As a result, an even clearer signal of their ability emerges.
Lytmus Content Creator
A natural progression of having realistic content is being able to customize it as your own.
With this goal in mind, we’ve built the Lytmus Content Creator!
Our content creator tools enable authors to customize and/or create questions on our platform.
You can use our Content Creator in two ways:
1. Clone any public question from our library
2. On-board your own assessments
As soon as you save the customized question, you can immediately use it in your Tryouts.

Greenhouse Enhancements
We’re always listening to our customer’s feedback. And a common theme was more exposure into our Greenhouse integration.
We’re now integrated with Greenhouse’s Activity Feed. Greenhouse users have even more insight into their Candidate’s Lytmus experience.
