Why freemium doesn’t work so well anymore

If I put a bowl of M&Ms on the table and said you could have as many as you like but the brown M&Ms cost $1 each, you’d avoid eating the brown ones.

That is the problem with entering the market with a freemium product. All you learn is how many brown M&Ms were in the bowl.
