I Think: The media focus is on the problem, not the solution

I read all the stories of rape and violence. It is so sad that there are so many in India, and these stories are a message to me as a girl be a little more alert.
It is most disgusting when people blame the girl for her rape. I don’t see a point in education if the thinking is still the same.
We need stricter laws.
The media lacks intelligence. It is such a powerful platform. It can do wonders. But the media today sees stories of rape and sexual violence as an opportunity to sell their news.
The focus is on the portrayal of the problem, rather than the solution. Conducting TV panels is not the way to do it. There is nothing to prove in the fact that rape is wrong. How is it helping the viewers? We are just told the same facts over and over again.
The maximum possible details should be provided because only then the reader gets a clear idea. The names of the guilty must be brought out in the public. That’s how they will be boycotted by the society. But the name of the victim should not be disclosed. It will be easier for her to live that way. This is the right way to go about it.
