Tonight’s Social Media ‘talking point’ seems to be…

Ok, so the ‘talking point’ for tonight on FB and Twitter seems to be how we've all just collectively remembered Zbigniew Brzezinski is Mika Brzezinski’s father. Strange coincidence, indeed. He trained Osama Bin Laden during the anti-USSR Mujahideen War in Afghanistan days.

Exhibit A, “The Morning Joe”

Is this truly the case, though?

1. Fact: Zbigniew(Ziggy-B) did rally for the Mujahideen in his role as the National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter. Because they were fighting Capital-C-Communist Russia in Afghanistan. He was never literally there handing out weapons to them, however.
2. ‘Somehow’ the photo that is always posted from these news sources is the attached; but this is the fun part —

Exhibit B. Oh snap, Ziggy-B must be a ‘bad hombre’, right?

Oh shit? Look at the picture of Mika’s Daddy handing OBL a weapon, s/he must be a terrible person/people, right? Literally handing a machine gun to Osama Bin Laden, the World Record Holder at HideN’Go-Seek, a total monster!!!11!

Which brings me to:

3) That’s not even OBL in the photo. It’s a Pakistani Officer who-kinda-sorta-squint-looks like Ben Kingsley playing OBL in a movie. The giveaway is OBL was never a member of a uniformed service. The Mujahideen at the time were primarily Afghani in makeup, to boot! Since the war was in Afghanistan, after all.

There’s no absolutely no evidence Ziggy-B was “The Man Who Trained Osama Bin Laden in Warfare,” let alone even knew his name. The headline is completely and utterly false and the picture associated with it is totally misleading.

Now what were we talking about again? You’ve just been successfully distracted from the fact that President Trump habitually demeans women in every way he possibly can. Including via Twitter:
