In today’s world, the most efficient way of checking whether a person is fit for a job or not is his resume. So writing a fool-proof resume is of utmost importance.

Before your resume even reaches the interviewer, it is run through a parser. It rejects almost 80% of the resumes. After that, the average interviewer spends only 6 seconds on your resume.

How should you prepare a resume so that you pass through the tests with flying colours?

Step 1: Don’t lie in your resume. Even if your fake resume passes through the tests, you would inevitably fail in the interview, so you would lose the opportunity and your credibility. Don’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk.

Step 2: Instead of trying to impress your recruiters, try expressing your passion for the subject.

Step 3: Show why you would be an ideal candidate by listing out your accomplishments.

Step 4: Improve your online presence by developing a better GitHub profile. Why? It’s because your GitHub profile acts like your extended resume. Show them what you are capable of.

In the end, there really is only one question to be asked. Is there really a sure shot way of getting a job? And would a blog such as this actually make a difference? What you should know is this: the only way to get there would be through hard work and smart work. I gave you some tips for smart work. Now, it’s your turn for the hard work.

Good luck with your job search.
