My 2017 Cognitive IoT Predictions on Coffee with Game changers podcast

Coffee with Game Changers is an Internet talk radio show hosted by Bonnie Graham on Voice America Business Channel.

Bonnie sprinkled her magic dust on me again on Dec 14th 2016.

Bonnie ran a series of 2017 predictions and I joined the amazing company of her guests of this year. (I spoke about IoT with her in Mar 2016).

Listen to today’s show

What do you think are my top two predictions for 2017?

1. We are going to see lot of ‘Drones as a Service’ businesses.

Drone are intelligent machines that can fly, swim, swarm together and typically come with a camera that can capture videos and pictures. This offers aerial image and videos for many industries.

Drones are disrupting transportation by flying into remote terrains as ambulance drones or carrying heavy objects or critical life supplies in war torn areas. This is more than transportation because it impacts infrastructure and many more industries.

Here’s the business sizing of this disruption done by PWC Poland team.

2. AI is going to become more common in Healthca

Deep learning by Deepmind and IBM Watson are applying AI on patient data to predict diseases before they happen.

Deepmind has partnered with NHS, UK to predict kidney and eye diseases. IBM Watson is combing through thousands of Cancer research papers to augment a physician’s identification of the type of cancer. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has partnered with IBM Watson launch Watson Oncology.

IBM is offering this to its employees and their families starting 2017. We can expect many lives to be saved by Watson Oncology AI.

Of course, this leads me to my favorite topic. With more intelligent machines in our lives, we are going to become more social with machines.

My path to Social IoT is now complete!

Ken Herron will be so proud of me. Watch his interview at The IoT show about Social IoT from Jan 2016.

Be it conversational AI voice chat with Alexa or messaging with the AI from your doctors, 2017 will be the hear we’ll start augmenting human intelligence with intelligent machines and AI.

Are you excited? Are you scared? Do you already see the disruption in your life or in your industry? As always I’d love to hear your thoughts/comments/questions/critique …
