Executive director of Policy and Impact, Fran Woodard said:

“Early diagnosis is an urgent priority which will save thousands of lives, so we welcome these ambitions for NHS cancer care.

“However, we need a health service that works for everyone and currently there is too much variation in diagnosis and care across the country. It is crucial any improvements are available for every cancer patient, regardless of who they are, where they live, or what kind of cancer they have.

“These aspirations must also coincide with a costed plan to sustain and grow the cancer and general nursing workforce. Without that, any commitments to patients will be in vain as we simply won’t have the people to put these ambitious plans into action.”
