It is a fact that everyone is quite excited about the new iPhone 13 announcement. But is it something to be really excited? This article is dedicated to enlightening you about each and every disappointment that will come with the iPhone 13 so you will think twice before going for an upgrade.

Yes, iPhone 13 has some major improvements when comparing with the iPhone 12 versions. The problem is it doesn’t meet the everything iPhone fans have been long waiting for. We cannot exactly blame the Apple for this because most of them were just rumors. Let’s take a look at what are those.

1. Notch — Apple made the latest notch design in the iPhone 13 20% smaller than the iPhone 12 notch. But it has become slightly taller than the previous one (almost unnoticeable). The real issue here is even though the notch got smaller and there is extra space now they haven’t changed anything we see on the interface. For an example, we still get the less detailed battery level indicator instead of a much more detailed one. Hopefully they will fix it with a future update to the iPhone 13. Another thing about this notch is, there are lots of smartphones with other types of notches like Water Drop or Punch Hole. Apple should consider coming up with one of those or a better innovative design.

2. Touch ID — Face ID is the only biometric security method available in the iPhone 13. But this is the Face Mask era, which means Face ID does not suit for every situation. Even though Apple has a patent on the Under the Display Fingerprint method, it seems like they have tested and rejected it without a second thought. Apple may use this Under the Display Touch ID on future iPhones, but we can only guess. As for now, whoever buys an iPhone 13 is stuck with the Face ID.

3. Charging Port — Despite the rumors of having USB Type-C port for charging in the Apple iPhone 13 it is still the same old Lightening Port. If they did upgrade this to a Type-C port, then users could have used the same cable to charge several latest Apple devices. Even Apple iPad Mini 6 got Type-C charging. Now it is really doubtful whether an iPhone will ever get a Type-C charging port because Apple had pretty enough time to upgrade their ports if they really wanted to.

4. Wireless iPhone — Also there were some rumors about a completely new, literally port-less iPhone version. The completely wireless iPhone was supposed to be the biggest in the generation, the iPhone 13 Pro Max model. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just as normal as all the other iPhones. Maybe Apple is holding things back for a real surprise in the year 2022. On the other hand, it is actually good Apple didn’t make the Pro Max version completely wireless because their MagSafe connectivity and charging is still underwhelming when comparing with the previous generation. The iPhone 13 battery is considerably bigger than the iPhone 12 battery. So, it takes more time to charge it even with a fast-charging cable. Using only a MagSafe to charge your iPhone would be a very bad idea under this situation unless Apple decides to enhance their wireless charging technology.

5. Weight — The weight of iPhones has noticeably increased with every release. This might be a minor issue when it comes to mounting the iPhone using the magnet. The built-in magnet may not be strong enough to hold the phone when using with something like a car mount (don’t get me wrong, it is strong but could’ve been stronger). The best solution for this is buying an Apple compatible smartphone case. There are lots of cases out there in the market that come with much stronger magnet.

6. Always on Display — Always on Display feature is something that Android users have had for years. It isn’t even a hardware feature but a software one. Apple can easily add this to their phones by just sending an update. Their displays are now more power efficient than ever before, and their batteries got bigger. So, there is no other reason to hold back this feature from iPhone 13 other than the will to use it in a next generation iPhone series. Even the Apple Watches has the feature!

7. Satellite Connectivity — This could have been the most revolutionary upgrade of the year. Connecting to a satellite network even when you don’t have a cellular connection. This would be a huge help in emergency situations if they had enabled it. They even have the required hardware to do this. If this was available in this iPhone 13 you will get the chance to make calls and send messages even without a 4G or 5G service.

8. Reverse Wireless Charging — We know that this exists, but we cannot use it because Apple hasn’t enabled it LOL. Since the battery got much larger this year it could have been nice to add this feature to the iPhone but sadly the didn’t. You cannot even charge your AirPods with your iPhone even it is an extreme situation. We can hope that they will release a software update enabling this feature with the release of AirPods 3.

9. Camera — Yes of course iPhone 13 has that “cinematic feature” in it but is it enough? Literally nothing has changed other than that option. Specially the selfie camera remains unchanged and same one as the iPhone 12. Since the Samsung S21 Ultra models are now ruling the selfie cameras it is better to hope that Smart HDR 4 technology will make a difference in the selfies.

10. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth — It is largely expected that Wi-Fi 6E (the best available version) will be featured in this iPhone 13 series (at least in the 13 Pro Max model). Even Samsung S21 has it even it was released in 2021 January. So, we actually don’t know why Apple is not interested in upgrading there Wi-Fi to the next level. Same thing happened with the Bluetooth version. While the Bluetooth 5.2 is already in the market for months already, Apple is still sticking to the Bluetooth 5.0 version. Obviously, the 5.0 version uses more power, has interference issues and lacks a lot of features when comparing with the 5.2 version. This is a serious issue because if you had hopes to listen to much better Apple Lossless Audio via Bluetooth, this is just an utter disappointment.

Now you know if this is a really good choice to go for the Apple iPhone 13 if you are having something like Apple iPhone 12 or similar. Apple iPhone 13 surely is a great smartphone which had the potential to be a lot better than what we are going to get now. It is up to you for decide.
