Apple recently announced the introduction of Apple Silicon Macs, which are meant to replace the underperforming Intel-based Macs. Tim Cook’s explanation was simple: It would lead to better Macs. While many articles and videos talk about the performance gains, there are also other benefits. Here are 3 little-known advantages of Apple Silicon Macs:

1. Better Webcams

As any Mac user knows, the webcams on Macs are easily the worst cameras Apple has on any device (remember that the same company produces one of the best phone cameras). Thankfully, this is all expected to change. Some eagle-eyed Apple enthusiasts may have seen the quiet announcement that Apple Silicon will allow Apple to use “high-quality camera processor(s)” in their devices, finally allowing for a change that should have happened a long time ago.

2. Improvements with SideCar

Potentially a game-changing feature

Ok, Apple said that SideCar will be faster in Apple Silicon Macs. Why should I care? It’s not just this that hints at something new, it’s also the fact that MacOS Big Sur has become touch friendly (kind of). If MacOS is becoming touch friendly and SideCar is getting faster connectivity, a revolutionary feature may be coming to SideCar: The introduction of touch compatibility on MacOS through iPads. This could be revolutionary. Or it could be the dreams of Apple enthusiasts. You decide.

3. Compatibility with iOS Apps

Optimization to the fullest extent

One more thing. Apple mentioned that all iOS-based apps will be compatible with MacOS. This means that powerful mobile software, such as Adobe Premiere Rush, can be used on Apple Silicon Macs. These mobile apps are lighter, and don’t use nearly as much power as their standard counterparts. This means that people looking to get into creative spaces don’t need to pay Adobe’s high monthly fees, or Final Cut Pro’s excessive price tag. Instead, these lighter apps will allow for free software, better battery life, and a far smoother experience than anything we’ve ever seen. We may even see an Apple Silicon MacBook Air handling 6K footage without a stutter, thanks to apps designed for mobile workstations, like Luma Fusion and Premiere Rush.
