A 27-inch iMac is around the corner, expect the unexpected!
Surprise me Apple, give it all you got!
M1 Max, Pro, or the M2, what do you expect to see in the upcoming 27-inch non pro iMac?
It’s lined up and ready for production, ready to be launched in the 2022 Spring event that Apple may choose to repeat, as another one-off event.
And the first piece of information might seem like bad news for many people.
Colours
We are expecting to see a stunning, colourful lineup of the consumer level 27-inch iMacs. The Black and silver plain-ish colours will be presented in the Professional level Macs as Apple has been doing for the past decade or so.
Well, isn’t this good news?
For most people it is(me included), but for those who abhor the white bezel — 🤷🏼♂️. But honestly, those white bezels practically disappear when you actually start working on the iMac, and is not a big deal.
It feels like the screen looks larger than it actually is, for some strange reason. My 24-inch iMac looks more like a 26-inch instead.
Further, the white bezels “do not” distract you the working in dimmer/darker environments. Though this product is not marketed for Pros, even though it works like a pro machine!
Honestly, I would love to see the new iMacs in a simple yet elegant, old-fashioned, Apple-styled Matte black and silver finish. That aesthetically pleasing look gives a hit of dopamine to a Mac buyer and entices them to get the newly launched products.
This leads us to our next topic:
Display
This piece of the intricate puzzle that Apple is designing can be a deal-breaker for many, many people who are on the verge of getting one of these awesome machines.
Unfortunately, this sleek new design will not be combined with the Stunning ProMotion display, although, Mini-LED might still remain.
Furthermore, rumours and leaks have shown that the machine will be divided into multiple specification, ones that will ship with the Mini-LED, and one that will not.
So you will have to be the one to decide if you would like to spend the extra cash to get that spectacular, mind-bending, eye-curving, HDR-serving, hell of a display. But let me warn you, its not going to be cheap!
Apple has been planning, for several months now, to launch 3 new displays that have already gone into production. If it seems to you that the iMac might be a waste of money, get a Mac mini and a separate stunning monitor instead. It is all up to you.
Chipset
Due to these rumours, we now know that this product will contain Apple’s consumer chipset, the M2 chip that will be 11 to 20% more powerful than the standard M1. To read the full and detailed performance and estimations of the M2 chip see this:
It is an extremely powerful and efficient chip will once again rock the world to the core!
An updated Quadruple or Duo M1 Max chips will be seen in the higher end Pro version of the iMacs that will come in all black, or all silver. They will support up to 20cores, as leaked by Ming-Chi Kuo.
Ports
A standard port selection will be provided with the 27-inch model. An SD-card, 3 Thunderbolt-4 ports and an HDMI. They may also choose to include a high-impedance headphone jack as well.
Release Date and Price
Estimating the price of an Apple product is one of the hardest things an analyst can do. This one is not unique.

Coming back on track, these pixel-perfect machines will start at a considerable $2000 and will be shown in a product release sometime in the Spring.
Conclusion
Should you wait to buy the M2 machines, or just pick an M1 series Mac mini/ smaller iMac from the Apple store?
New and exciting products are always around the corner, don’t delay your purchase because of that thought.
