Couple of months ago, Apple released their latest AirPods version the Apple AirPods 3. Since the release of it, the greatest question among the AirPods users is which one is better? AirPods 3 or AirPods Pro. Obviously, the Pro version came out to the market like two years ago but with some unique features, so you may already know the answer. But it is better to take a detailed comparison between those two items to get a perfectly clear idea about the difference.

The first thing anyone would expect from a pair of audio devices is the sound quality. When it comes to the AirPods Pro vs AirPods 3, as I said before AirPods Pro has some unique features that AirPods 3 does not include. Those are the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and the Transparency Mode. Since the AirPods 3 doesn’t have these features, your music experience will be occasionally disturbed according to the environment you are in. AirPods 3 has a great sound quality, almost as good as the Pro, quite loud (can be adjustable) speakers + extra bass than the AirPods Pro. Last but not least, the AirPods 3 supports spatial audio technology too. As the final decision regarding the audio quality, AirPods Pro wins the competition because of the ANC and Transparency Mode, nothing more.

So, that is like the only thing that is good in AirPods Pro when comparing with the AirPods 3.

The AirPods 3 has a new sensor in it that can detect when you remove or insert an earbud in your ear, it is called skin-detect sensor. AirPods 3 has a new design now, it got rid of the silicone ear-tips and widened the speaker opening a bit more, also the stems are bit short and still got the touch sensor in them. Now it is easy to clean and stays in your ears way more comfortable soon you will forget that you are even wearing them at the moment. Both these AirPods are water resistant. Overall, the new design in AirPods 3 helps to keep them in your ears as long as their battery lasts without any issues, unlike the tight fitting AirPods Pro earbuds you will not feel that AirPods 3 are there.

The level of performance of these two doesn’t change in anyway because these two features the same H1 processor. When it comes to the battery, obviously the AirPods 3 has the much longer battery life because it doesn’t have features like ANC and Transparency Mode. AirPods 3 has a music playtime of 6–5 hours (without and with spatial audio on) while AirPods Pro only has a 4.5–5hour playtime (without and with ANC or Transparency Mode).

AirPods Pro and AirPods 3 both supports MagSafe charging. Even with the case on AirPods 3 will be charged without any problems with the MagSafe charger. It is little bit lighter in weight, though you will not probably feel any difference in your hands. When it comes to the price, the AirPods Pro is the most expensive one even though it was released two years ago. But if you look careful enough, you can find a pair of AirPods Pro for the price of AirPods 3.

So, as a conclusion let’s take a look at the reasons to buy and not to buy each one of these items.

AirPods Pro

  • Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode
  • Customizable Silicone Ear-tips

AirPods 3

  • Longer battery life

As you can see, it is better to go with the Apple AirPods 3 version only if you are having problems with the comfortability of the Pro model. If you work/live in a quiet environment there is no problem going for the AirPods 3. Unless you cannot find the right deal, it will always be the AirPods Pro.
