Apple just released their latest and most advanced pair of headphones to date. They have named it “Apple AirPods Max” and it is quite expensive like all of those Apple products yet it is a revolutionary device with some impressive and magnificent features.
This AirPods Max comes in a considerably large package. Inside it you can see some user guides and a USB Type-C charging cable in addition to the headphone and the headphone case. What you don’t see inside the package is a charging adapter, because recently Apple decided sending a charging adapter with their device is bad for the environment.
Before talking about the headphone we should discuss a bit about its case. This particular headphone case (called as the Smart Case) caused a huge chatter in the social medias like Facebook and Reddit. The case is actually pretty decent and has a magnet in it to lock it more securely. To be honest this case looks like a lot of other things, it looks like a mini-handbag, a sleep mask, a purse and even a brassiere (lol). Other than the ridiculous design, the protection it provides is nothing what you expect from a case. Only the earcups are covered (not completely) and the most vulnerable part (the headband) is exposed to the outside. There a small cut in the headphone case to attach the charger to the headphone while it is in the case. That is all about the case, now you should be able to imagine what it looks like.
Now let’s get to the headphone.
Forget the case, this Apple AirPods Max headphone is actually a well-made piece of equipment. Apple always manages to provide the best build quality. There are 5 different colours to choose when buying this AirPods Max, those are Silver, Space Grey, Sky Blue, Pink and Green. The headphone weighs about nearly 380 grams (13.6 ounces) and with the case on it weighs about 520 grams (18.3 ounces) and that a quite lot weight when comparing to the other headphones at this size (obviously, there are not so many metal built headphones). The inside of the earcups (the part with the cushions) can be replaceable for extra few dollars. That is actually a surprise and a satisfying fact. Lots of people may want to replace their earcups after using it for a long time. So you are able to mix the colours of the headphone and the earcups but you can’t select the colour of the earcups when buying the headphone, you have to buy the separately. For an example; if you decide to buy the silver headphone with sky blue earcups, you first have to buy the silver headphone that comes with silver earcups and then the sky blue earcups.
Those replaceable earcups fits in to the headphone using a very powerful magnet. They don’t fall off easily and you have to put a considerable effort to pull them off. The outside of the headphone earcups (or frame) is made from Aluminium. The adjustable headband is stainless steel and has a cool mesh like fabric design on the top. The adjustment is very firm and tight. Comfortability of these earcups are superb. They are covered from some kind of a textured fabric and it is very soft and smooth to your ear (this is an over-ear headphone not an on-ear type headphone).
Sound quality of this Apple AirPods Max is absolutely phenomenal and very well balanced (there are five types of sensors in these earcups). Keep in mind that this is not a studio grade headphone. This is mainly focused on and exceptionally good for listening to music on your devices or on streaming services like Apple Music or Spotify. The amount of bass is right on point and you don’t have to maximize the music volume to hear your audios clearly. Another important fact is that this is not a sweat or water resistant headphone. So you cannot use this outside when it drizzles and I cannot recommend you to use this in a (depends on how you use this). Since this uses the Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity to link with your device you can use this in a considerably far from your mobile phone (without any objects).
Apple included nine microphones in this device. Eight of them are used to Active Noise Cancellation and three of them are used to voice pickup. The Noise Cancellation is brilliant and does not feel unnatural at all. You can just press a button on the headphone to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and the Transparency Mode. Apple has brought the Crown in their Apple Watch to this headphone. You can use this crown to control sounds, audio, take calls and to even access the Siri. As you can see this isn’t a touch controlled device, this is completely manual and that is for the good.
The battery on this headphone works for about nearly 20hrs even with the Active Noise Cancellation mode turned on. If you are on a hurry and a low battery status at the same time you can quickly charge this up for 5 minutes and can gain 1.5hrs playtime and that is something impressive.

These Apple items are usually overpriced because of their trademark (ironically there is no Apple logo in this headphone). Since there is no charging adapter for this I’m going to recommend a good one for you (a same item I recommended to use with an iPhone 12).

It is specially made for the iPhone 12 but you can also use this to charge previous iPhones and even Samsung Galaxies. You must know that the prongs (plugs) in the charger are not foldable and this one doesn’t come with a USB-C to Lightning cable (since it comes along with the iPhone, it is nothing to worry about). If you are having any issues with the device you bought, you don’t have to worry because the manufacturer provides an 18-month warranty for this item.
