At this year’s September Apple Event, Apple announced some exciting updates to its hardware and services. We got a new iPad, watches, Apple One subscription as well as the new Fitness+ service.

The long awaited Fitness+ service gives users a catalogue of different workouts led by expert trainers. The service will be powered by Apple Watch and you will be able to see in real time metrics like heart rate and calories burned. This will mean that in order to use the service you will need an Apple Watch.

When the service becomes available, if you own an Apple Watch, Fitness+ will be the centre tab in the fitness app. From there you can see your subscription and use the service. The fitness app will become available for Apple TV when the service launches.

Fitness+ has been created for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an expert, you can make modifications for all levels in every workout. You can do whatever exercise you want, you choose the time, the trainer and the workout. If you need to learn the basics, there is even an instructional programme called Absolute Beginner.

Many of the workouts on Fitness+ will not require any equipment at all but for some you may need things like dumb-bells, a yoga mat, an exercise bike, a rowing machine or a treadmill.

The workout types available include treadmill walk, treadmill run, HIIT, rowing, cycling, dance, yoga, core, strength and mindful cool-down.

When you purchase a new Apple Watch you get a 3 month free trial of the service. The price is $9.99 per month / $79.99 per year. If you are subscribed to Apple One’s premier plan, Fitness+ will be included in your subscription. There is no official release date as of yet but Apple have said that it comes out late 2020.
