First thing first: This does not make the apple products any cheaper in the country, at least in the near future, nevertheless there are exciting things that Indian customers (which includes me as well) can access now. These things are not something new nor unique from the other markets such as the US or UK but, getting the same level of customer support as such markets is a welcome move. Some of the most important things that get introduced are as follows:

Customizations

It was not possible before to buy customized MacBooks, iMacs in India. It was restricted to the base configurations and that was totally an unfair offer from Apple. Not any more, one can now configure the Mac lineup to suit one’s needs.

Trade-in Programs

It is a way by which customers can exchange their old Apple products for new ones or get credits for future purchases.

AppleCare +

Apple products are not cheap and servicing them is also obviously not. Every hardware bought from Apple comes with the standard One-Year warranty for services but the default warranty does not include accidental protection and user-made damages. This is where AppleCare+ comes into play which, other than extending the warranty for another two-years, also provides protection against accidental damages, theft, and reduced repair charges.

This protection plan is not available in India to date and starting from September 23, Indian users can also hop in to insure their premium devices from accidental damages and theft.

Free Engravings

It is now possible (starting from September 23) to buy products such as AirPods, iPads, and Apple Pencils with free personalized engravings which were not possible at all before.

Shop for Education

This would be the most exciting thing for me personally out of this event. The student discount offered by the retailers in India for buying Macs, iPads, and other accessories is inconsistent and not transparent. There were no discounts for purchasing AppleCare plans, accessories nor could we purchase iPads (non-Pro ones) with student discounts. (at least I was not able to get a discount for the iPad I bought)

It was not possible to purchase Pro App Bundle for Education which includes powerful Apple apps such as Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4, and MainStage 3. It was one thing I always wished Apple could being to India and soon, it is going to be a reality.

Refurbished Products

Refurbished products may not be available immediately but over a period of time, as sale grows through the online store, this will also be available would be my hope.
